Cottage Cheese and Flax Oil – July 27th, 2006

Hi,

I just thought I should pass this information along.

Recently, about 7 months ago, my sister’s dog was diagnosed with lung cancer and given a month to live. Well, we did some research and found some startling results with people who had started taking cottage cheese mixed with flax oil three times a day.

We were skeptical, but figured we had nothing to loose, so we stated giving her dog this regiment.

Well, here we are 7 months later, the dog is doing great. He has increased energy level, good breathing and is very bright-eyed. We are very pleased.

Does this have anything to do with the cottage cheese and flax oil? Who knows? But that is the only different thing that was added to his diet and he is on no other form of treatment or medication.

All I can say is, if you have a dog in a similar situation, it wouldn’t hurt to try it!

    Hi –

Well, we have had three dogs with this problem, and all three, we think, have been helped a great deal by the cottage cheese and flax oil regimen. We also added pectin three times a day, because one of our duaghters had a dog who had developed several massed cell tumors. He wasn't expected to see his third birthday, but after having the pectin, he lived to 13.

It is just anecdotal, but when our daughter took him off the pectin, the tumors returned, and they disappeared when he went back on it, so that seemed pretty conclusive to us.

Our Kelpie mix, Molly, had a huge tumor on her jaw three years ago. The surgeon removed the lower third of her jaw, and he said there was a suspicious growth which he had also removed, but there was no way of knowing if he got all the cells. We put her right on the cottage cheese, oil, and pectin, and she's had no recurrence in three years.

Another daughter's older Aussie was given a very short time to live, and she got three opinions on that. He survivied, with a very good quality of life, for almost two years, with this regimen.

You can probably tell, we believe this works. We give our 40 pound Molly 1 tablespoon of organic flax oil and 1-1/2 teaspoons of 5000 mg pection powder, 3 times a day. At noon, we mix it with a heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese, and for AM and PM meals, with her kibble. One of our daughters has a very large dog, and since she uses A LOT of pectin each day, she found a wholesale source, and she buys it in bulk.

You do have to consider the calories, so it's good to figure out the calories and talk to your vet about your dog's daily requirements. Because of the caloric intake, we now feed Molly RD, and she's maintaining her perfect weight.

I hope this gives you some encouragement, and I hope it helps you as much as it has us. Good luck.

How do you get my dog to eat the cottage cheese and flaxseed oil? What can I add to it that won’t hurt the stength or effictiveness of the mixture?
