Some feel happy about it, while others are disappointed. Some dog owners love giving their dog a popular name, while others like to find a truly unique name for their dog. If you are one of the dog owners that are searching for something unique, you have come to the right place.   • Celebrity Names – Are you a fan of a great actor or celebrity? You can choose to name your dog after a variety of celebrities, or shorten the name to nicknames. For example, the popular reality family the Kardashians. You can shorten the name to Kard, Kar, Dash and Shian. This truly creates a unique name for your dog and allows you to honor your favorite celebrity at the same time. Don’t forget you can use names of artists, scientists, philosophers, inventors and much more! Just shorten the name and create an entirely unique dog name.
  • Two Names – Some dog owners enjoy giving their dog two names. Jimmy Fallon named his dog Gary Frick. You can choose to give your dog two names as well. If you are truly looking for a truly unique name for your dog, create it yourself. You can use word jumble or letter jumble. You can even create a name by using the letters in your own name. Let’s say that you are welcoming a dog into your home to be your child’s best friend. Why not use your child’s name for inspiration. For example, if your daughter is named Kaitlyn you can create a name using some of the letters. Try Lyn, Tile, Kan, Tyn-Tyn or Kit. If your son’s name is Jackson try naming his dog Nak, Jon, San, Kas or Jas. Your child may also try naming his or her dog using names of their favorite cartoon characters or superhero.

Your dog is a part of your family and his or her name reflects you. Many dog owners may not realize this, but how many times have you seen a dog owner walking their dog on the street and you go over to have a chat with the owner only to find a tiny sized dog is named killer? This reflects the dog owner, since they are the one responsible for naming their dog. Often times this situation is found humorous and it shows that the dog owner has a sense of humor.
