Echo was a female nymph in greek mythology. she was so in love with Narcissus, but he did not return her love.
She pined away until only her voice was left - origin of the name Echo.

We picked this name for our female border collie. Her name was actually Aspen when we got her. We had a previous dog named Aspen already who passed away. So we decided to name her Echo as to reflect on our previous dog plus with our new dog having that name and we changed it from Aspen to Echo.
