My lil redbone mix is named Zuzu....Zuzu my lil Gingersnap! Love the movie It's a Wonderful Life, and the name Zuzu (which is George Bailey's youngest daughter) Zuzu or Zu Zu was the name of a biscuit company in the early 1900s. Anyway you spell it, it's a very unique name for my very unique dog.
My family had a Springer spaniel named ZuZu. She was not a dog, but a beautiful soul and my daughter's nanny. ZuZu was born with a deformity of her hind leg and was going to be destroyed, since everyone in our family had something wrong, we felt like she belonged. I developed a seizure disorder and ZuZu saved my life twice, once while I was cooking and a fire started because I had a seizure and the second was when I had a seizure outside in the middle of winter in WI in sub zero cold. She laid on top of me and howled until someone came. We got her name exactly the same way, from our favorite movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" and George Bailey found ZuZu's petals. ZuZu was a wonderful dog, she was nine years six months when she died after her leg turned cancerous and needed to be amputated, the wound would not heal and she died from blood loss three weeks later, we had her cremated and spread the ashes on her favorite hill. Over a dozen people outside our family showed up to share a ZuZu story. What a Blessing....ZuZu!
I got the idea for our new Doberman puppy's name from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life". George Bailey's youngest daughter is named Zuzu. One of my favorite parts of the movie is at the end when he discovers Zuzu's petals in his pocket once again.
My daughter said it sounds like the name of a really fast dog. Being a Doberman, I bet she will be right!!
I had never heard of this name for a dog until recently, and when I named my dog Zu-Zu (must be with a dash!) almost 13 years ago, no one had a dog named Zu-Zu. People love the name when I tell them. I arrived at that name by thinking about her her breed, which is a mix of Shih-Tzu, and Bichon-Frise. When I thought of the last part of Shih-Tzu, I thought of the sound "Zoo" which made me automatically think of the girl in the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life." Her name was Zuzu......and I thought of Zu-zu's petals! It's a great name, and not many dogs have it. I like names that are unique and rare.
