I am a long time Chicago Bears Fan, and growing up my favorite Bear player was the late great Walter Payton! We wanted to pay tribute to my idol growing up, so my wife and I decided to name our Hungarian Viszla "Payton". What's funny is that Payton shares a lot of the same traits as Walter. He has endurance, and is lean and strong like Walter. He is fun to watch run and has a bigger than life personality. Hope you enjoy! |

Sarah's Mercy
I named my German Shepherd Mercy. I named her that in honor of my Rott/Shepherd mix, Sarah, that passed away. Sarah was diagnosed with cancer only a day before she died. When I received the news of her cancer I was devasted. I agonized over the fact that she was going to get worse and was ultimately going to die. I prayed about how I was going to handle watching my best friend of 11 years die. How would I know when she was suffering? Would I be able to euthanize her when the time came? Well, the next morning Sarah would not move or get up except for moving her head. We had to take her to the vet that afternoon and euthanize her. I believe that it was her plan to make that decision for me to ease my pain of worry. Mercy is an act that prevents suffering. She had mercy on me and in turn I was able to have mercy for her and do the right thing by her. My dog's full AKC name is Sarah's Mercy in honor of her. |
