A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Buy A Collar For The Cat
Annie was my very first dog. I'd never wanted a dog - until my husband (in a wheelchair) and I went into a pet store to get a flea collar for our cat. All the dogs were yapping except one with its head down. I took one look and started crying. People were giving my husband looks (what did he do to the poor woman) Anyway, I asked to see the dog. I kept asking what kind of dog she was. "German Shorthair Pointer". No, I said "WHAT KIND?" My husband translated: "Is it a male or female?" Within 15 seconds of hearing the little sad brown thing was a female, she had a name "Annie". (Like Little Orphan Annie). Her last name: Nibblesox was given to her by my grandson - as she did just that as a pup. She graced everyone's life for over twelve wonderful years and was the catalyst for rescuing other GSP's: Jumpin' Jersey Jake The Adventure Dog, Scooter DeBergerac and Barley Hopsdrinker, all who are with her in the place I want to be when I die. Until then, I share and am rescued by my first foxhound: Mally Meek'nsweet. More about all of them sometime soon! |

the story behind my dog name is if you adopt a big strong dog i feel like Zeus is a good name for not just a strong dog but its also a cute name for a new little puppy. usually i wold use the name zeus for probably a bigger dog like a husky or a lab dog probably not for a lap dog but you know its up to you to choose your own name for you loving companion. |

My Rotty got his name before I got him, they said it was because he was so small as a puppy and it was like a lug nut next to a tire when he sat with his (massive) daddy. Now my kids affectionately call him "Rug Mutt" on occasion. |

Usually people may have shortened versions of their name for a nickname. We have done the opposite with our dog. Our Dog is Niko. His nicknames are Nikoli and Nikolitus. He thinks it's pretty cool. |

My dog is a male boxer. We named him Jazz when we got him because we were listening to jazz music and he was laying on the bed wagging his head back and forth. He fell asleep listening to the music. |

My beagle dog, zorra, had a brown mask on her eyes so we named her Zorro but we put in the feminine law for Spanish and changed it to zorra. |

Somehow I have tended toward Biblical names.....When I named my first two dogs Noelle (we rescued her at Christmas time) and then I just loved the name Noah for my first first yellow lab male.....I decided to keep the trend going....so along came Luke, Hannah, and Christian..... |

My suprise
She was so little when we got her we didn't want to step on her so we gave her a cat collar with a bell on it. And my mom really wanted to name her lily. I remember wanting to name her Charlotte because I wanted a boy dog and Charlotte was the only cool name to me. But now I can't imagine calling her anything else. |
