dog's Name Photo The Story Behind the Name
Jupiter Juppie and the Red Spot

When Jupiter (Juppie for short) was a really tiny puppy she had a big red patch of fur on her hip. We named her Jupiter for her red spot as the planet Jupiter has a distinctive red spot which is actually a great anti-cyclonic (high pressure) storm akin to a hurricane on Earth, but it is enormous (three Earths would fit within its boundaries) and it has persisted for at least the 400 years that humans have observed it through telescopes.

We love the name Jupiter for her. We find it cute and unique, especially for a small female dog.

Rosie Red My Rosie Red

I am a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and Rosie Red is one of my favorite mascots.

Brisket Brisket the Adventure Dog

Originally, I named her Biscuit but that seemed too common of a dog's name. Wanting to be more original and not to confuse her I made an adjustment to Brisket. Furthermore, being one of the few dogs in the history of Hawaii to have visited the summit of Mauna Kea and one of the fewer to actually see and play in snow I officially named her Brisket the Adventure Dog.

She's a Golden Mix for what I can tell. I found her starving along side the road near Laupahoehoe, Hawaii one morning. I did everything I could to find her owners if she was lost. Having no luck, I tried to find her a good home with equally no luck. One day, I accepted the fact that she was stuck with me.

Mina Mina

I recently adopted my shar pei mix from the shelter

rooney Rooney girl with a boys name .

My dog is a Boston terrier . She is a girl but named after the soccer player Wayne Rooney . People still think she is a boy even with a pink collar and we call her Rooney girl.

Zhantos My dog's name

The name Zhantos for my dog is given by my best friend who's grand dad had a dog with that name when he was just a little boy. He said said to me that he really loved that dog.

weddle

we got it from a pokemon card.

Snowden

Our little white Bichon Frise...kids wanted to name him Snow or Snowball; I wanted something less generic. We settled on Snowden and laughed at the thought of him doing "Wiki-leaks" all over the yard :)

Ludo Ludo the Doberman

When I decided to get a Red Male Doberman I wanted to give him a unique name to go with the unique personality i thought he would have. Didnt want any macho Greek/Roman god names etc.
So I always loved the movie labryinth and there was a big red monster in the movie named Ludo that was sweet and gentle with those he cared for and could be protective and unstoppable when it came to those people.
Gentle sweet giant.
I got funny looks and still do but I love his name and it suits him so well.
Since learned that Ludo is also a board game popular in Britain, a rock band in Missouri, means famous fighter in German, Light in italian, Scottish derivative of Louis. Which the last works since i call him Louie Louie sometimes.

Trooper Troops

When Trooper was a puppy he was attacked by a hog that hurt him pretty bad at my mother's. After staying at the vet several days, having surgery, and a draining tube; he made it home and came to stay with me for me to take care of (medicine, changing dressing, etc.) I was talking to him one day calling different names that seemed like they might be appropriate and how he responded to them. I called out Trooper because I knew he had to be to go through everything that had happened to him and he looked straight up at me; since then the name stuck. Unfortunately; after a couple of years we moved and he was killed by a car. I still think about my sweet baby quite a bit and his loving ways.
