Recently Added dog Names

Our black lab passed away and we went to the shelter to find a new dog. We were so sad and missed her dearly. Her name was Shadow and she was the best well rounded dog. She loved all people, other dogs, she adored our cats, she loved to chase squirrels at the park she would never catch or them. She was far too sweet to harm anything. She would chase swallows at the park for as long as I would allow as they flew up and down. It was like they were teasing her and she loved it. She never tired. Then one day I took her for a walk and noticed she was way behind me. She lay down very weak looking and I rushed off to the vet. Shadow was only five years old and was diagnosed with a blood disease called IMHA. I had never heard of such a disease and wish now I never had. The vets tried three transfusions and piles of pills. They hospitalized her for a few days. She came back home and was well only about one or two days. She went downhill over the next three weeks. I spent over four thousand dollars to try to save our dear girl. Sadly after all that she did not make it. My son and I missed her so. One day my son asked if we get a boy dog could we name him Toby? We found this cute six month old puppy at the shelter who looks like a miniature Shadow. He even has the white streak on his chest like our dear dog Shadow had. We thought Toby was just a perfect cute name for our little pup. Our vet says Toby is probably a Cocker Spaniel/Cavalier King Charles cross. We just adore him he's so sweet. He's very easy to teach new things. My son and I feel that Shadow was so full of love and that somehow she died so that we could save Toby.

My little male fawn Pug was such a little tuff guy when I first saw him at the breeders. There he was with his brother and sisters climbing on top of them, almost pushing them away to get at me. Needless to say, when I got him to his new home and the way he would insist on hanging onto the end of his dinosaur stuffed toy was funny. Trying to pry the toy out of his mouth so I could leave for work, attempting to pull it out of his mouth while lifting the little Tuff guy, still swinging in the air attached to the end. The name "Tuffie" was born and I put an "ie" at the end to be different.

He was running around being a typical puppy when i told him stop being such a doggy that how i came up with doki.

Rikka was named when we adopted her so we did not want to change it as she was a year and on half old and used to her name. I was donating dog food to a local shelter when a I heard a dog bark and the bark sounded like a familiar beautiful bark of Max a male dog we had to etherize two years prior. The shelter was closed to the public that day but the attendant was nice enough to allow me to see this dog with the beautiful bark. There was Rikka, so excited to see me as if she knew me and had not seen me for awhile and she looked like Max. Same size, same color, same personality but his ears flopped and Rikka's are straight up. I spent a good amount of time with her. I just fell in love with her that day. Well she was owned by someone and they had not come to get her. She got loose two times, was not spade, was picked up the by animal control and brought to the shelter. I told them I was interested in case they decided to allow us to adopt her. Which they finally agreed we could adopt her. We were not allowed take her until she was spade. So my husband and I would go to the shelter to walk her. The last time I walked her, two young boys approached us and were playing with her and calling her Rikka. She was excited to see them also. They told me this was there dog but that parents could not afford to pay to get her back. By then I was becoming attached to her but I felt terrible for these boys so I asked if I could pay the bill so they could have their dog back. You could see they just loved her and it broke my heart. The manager said no, she could not go back to this family as they were not taking good care of her; she had been roaming the streets and picked up twice. Plus she was there for one month this time. So I explained to the boys and assured them that I would take the BEST care of her. The shelter let me take her that day with agreement that I would come back and have her spade when she was ready. Which I did. So I had the opportunity to speak with the young boys and find everything out about her, her birthday, her favorite food, etc. They said her name was Paprika because of her fur color and they called her Rikka for short. They hugged her and said good bye, I cried many times for them. We adopted Rikka that day and she is the most wonderful dog. It was the best decision. She is so dear and sweet and she is the joy of our home, she has a family who loves dearly, plus two cats siblings. She turned 9 on October 8th, 2013. We adopted her when she was 1.5 years old. I hope those boys somehow know that Rikka is in good hands and with a family that dearly loves and takes the best care of Rikka. The funny thing is Rikka moved right in as if she always lived with us. The cats treated her like they knew her. I've said if Max, our previous dog, could have been reincarnated he came back as a girl, RIKKA.
