Mary Bess |
![]() |
Messy Bessy
Very Irish-Catholic name for a very Jewish dog. Our vet, who had previously been living out of city limits with her husband, two boys, and 10 dogs, decided to move into the city to be closer to her practice and patients. My family had just lost our 7 year old golden retriever Maggie to cancer, and we were all still devastated. Our vet couldn't (legally) have all 10 dogs in her new house, so gave my parents her newest dog, a 2-year old golden retriever. The only stipulation was that her name, Mary Bess, had to stay. My parents saved Mary Bess (or Messy Bessy, as I like to call her) from being overlooked in a busy house full of 9 other dogs and 3 other people, but Mary Bess saved them right back. |
